Christmas in Florida

Every other year, my sister and family spend Christmas in Texas with family there and Daniel spends Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with his dad. So Mom and I decided to head to Florida for a little change of scenery during our "quiet" part of Christmas this year.

Our friends, Doug and Leanne Goddard, who are like family, graciously invited us to come visit them in Altoona (Lake County). Leanne and I have schemed for years about a time for our mothers to meet and this was that opportunity as well, since her mom, Anne Linville, was there too.

One funny story from opening gifts on Christmas morning:
It was Leanne's turn to open a gift and she pulled the tissue paper out of a gift bag and then started squealing, but not because of the gift. There was a live lizard inside and Leanne danced and squealed all the way out the sliding glass doors while Doug quipped, "Welcome to Florida!" We laughed and laughed about that "gift!"

Doug and Leanne invited some of their friends to eat Christmas dinner with us (and one of them, David, also joined us for breakfast). It was fun to meet new friends and put names with faces of people I have heard about who help the Goddards in ministry through Access-Life.

We had a great time visiting, playing games, shopping in the town of Mt. Dora, and eating delicious food! And celebrating the birth of Jesus together.
